After checking out several solar providers, we settled on SolarCraft because they are local to Marin, have been around for quite a while, and were highly reviewed by others. As well, their response to our inquiry was by far the least pushy. While others hustled to sign us up after blazing through a flashy presentation, SolarCraft simply gave us the details we asked for and told us to talk it over and get in touch when we were ready. No hassle, no fancy slide deck, no pressure.
The finance process was also the least complicated of the ones we were suggested. There's no power production agreement and no situation where they get the tax incentive. If you're not paying outright, you can get a loan with a bank, which is what we did, plus an initial down payment. We'll get the tax credit next year at tax time, which will offset the down payment we made this year. Once the loan is paid off, we'll own the setup, which is nice and simple. If equipment fails inside the warranty, they will work on it using the warranty. Outside the warranty, the equipment and labor would just be what it costs, like any other sizable purchase.
Throughout the installation process, SolarCraft was very communicative via email and let us know what to expect, what the next steps were, and when they would happen. We now have a beautiful, working solar setup, batteries, and monitoring system. We couldn't be happier with the way this went. If you're on the fence about going solar or want to put an end to PG&E's ever-increasing rates, give SolarCraft a call.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We worked with Robert Arnold at SolarCraft. Robert spent significant time educating us on the costs and benefits of solar systems and batteries, and explained how the system works. He also steered us toward quality and safety, and addressed all of our concerns. And he did a great job estimating our electricity demands- the system size is perfect. I could not be more pleased with Robert's service and the value he delivered us.
We have now had our SolarCraft installed system for more than 2 years, and we are very happy with its performance and associated economics. Our utility bills are very low, and we expect to get pay back on the system exactly in line as Robert estimated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I selected Solar Craft as they had installed community solar panels where I lived and several .local residents used SolarCraft to install their system. Their representative, Robert Arnold, was helpful through the purchase and installation process and kept me updated on proposed changes to the change in rates proposed by PG and E for solar customers. My system was successfully installed before the NEM 3.0. I also purchased a battery which has been great when we have power outages. The longest power outage I experienced was approximately four hours and essential electrically powered appliances and lighting worked well.
The Enphase battery has been a great investment and the system monitors itself and will conserve energy in the case of storms other other weather related alerts.
I was able to take advantage of their referral system where I received $500 for referring a relative who also purchased SolarCraft.
The entire team maintained good customer communication throughout the process. I highly recommend SolarCraft for your Solar needs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

After interviewing several solar installation companies, we were very fortunate to have a meeting with Robert Arnold from SolarCraft. We were looking to provide solar to three of our contiguous properties, with Robert's knowledge of this process and SolarCrafts team this became a reality. We could not be more pleased with all the staff interactions from beginning to end with this project. Our solar system is functioning at designed output and meeting our expectations and then some. I recommend for those of you that want a seamless professional solar project, SolarCraft would be your choice.
Many Thanks!

SolarCraft just completed a beautiful job on our roof, installing a 12-panel array that will sufficiently generate enough energy for our entire household, and then some. From start to finish, the process with SolarCraft was relatively easy to navigate, schedule, and complete. They were easy to work with, their sales guy Darren (who has since moved on to other things) was excellent and transparent. At times, communication & coordinating was a bit of a challenge (hence the lack of a 5th star), but overall, we are very happy with their quality of work, customer support throughout the entire process, and of course, value.

The Solar Craft Team that worked on the project for our house was awesome. Starting with Robert Arnold the residential clean energy consultant, who outlined the job for us and gave us a quote that was within our budget. They were all very professional, nice, helpful and prompt.
The job ran like a well oiled machine from start to finish.
Every phase of the job was perfectly coordinated with installation dates, obtaining permits, testing, inspections, PGE hookup,etc...
A HUGE thank you to Robert, Janell, Corey, Taylor, Andrew, Christopher, Chiara, and Tricia and anyone else I may have forgot.
We will definitely recommend Solar Craft to anyone looking to add solar to their life.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

SolarCraft installed a 20MWh/year solar electric system at my property in Marin County in August 2022. The entire experience was a pleasure. SC's sales rep, Robert Arnold, was thorough and efficient from the time he first came out to size, design, and configure the system, through installation and post-installation follow-up. Most importantly, he and the SC staff were communicative, regularly updating me with the status of the project without my having to call them. We were rushing to go live (formally connect to PG&E) before some changes to the net metering regime, and SC made sure we were installed in plenty of time. Robert also advised me from the outset of potential pitfalls or delays (such as PG&E being slow to grant a permit, and the possibility they would insist on my installing a new transformer at my expense), which fortunately did not materialize. I was impressed that Robert wanted to manage expectations appropriately--a practice that is far too rare among contractors.
Solar electric power has been the target of PG&E lately, with widely reported efforts by it and the California Public Utilities Commission to roll back some of the direct financial benefits of solar power. But with the price of electricity rising steadily at record-breaking rates, solar still provides substantial cost-saving benefits to homeowners and businesses (not to mention the environmental benefits to everyone). Give SolarCraft a call, and Robert or one of his colleagues will review the numbers based on your property's electrical usage, and give you an honest assessment of whether it makes sense to go solar now.
I highly recommend SolarCraft.

They installed a 10 kW solar system on our home in Sonoma. They were very easy to communicate with for both the install and a subsequent panel removal due to a renovation. The crew on site was very respectful of our home and kept the site clean (they were also pretty efficient). My husband works in the commercial solar sector and so we know solar (this is our fourth system install). We recommend them to our friends.

SolarCraft sold me a residential solar system in February of 2016 and claimed that the payback period would be 7-8 years. Here we are in 2023 and I'm paying huge "true up" costs to PG&E (over $2000). My system may never pay for itself.
I've tried several times to contact the company to see if they can help. I was disappointed to find out that they can't add more panels because the inverter won't accept more.
The person who sold me the system is no longer with the company.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

We’re an honest, local business that treats our customer with the utmost respect. We're sorry, but sometimes that means we have to provide answers that are not what you hope to hear. SolarCraft designs systems to accommodate our customer’s electrical needs based on the current technologies available at the time. It is true that a solar system sized to offset only a portion of your total electricity use still requires you to pay PG&E for the remaining portion (the true-up). PG&E rate have increased over 2X in just the past few years and quite a bit more than that since 2016. As a result, your PG&E true-up bill has increased significantly and may feel painful. That said, the amount you reduced your PG&E bill by installing solar absolutely paid for the initial cost of your system over that period and you’ve saved a bundle of money. If you have room on your roof for more solar panels, they can be installed, but technologies have changed since 2016, so yes, a new inverter is quite likely required—possibly a battery too. Please get in touch and we'll provide you with some options.
